DVB-T2 continues expansion into developing countries, adds more services
DVB-T2 continues to expand in both regional deployment and the type of services offered, dominating Asia, Africa and Europe.
After its launch in Europe several years ago, and the successful debut of DVB-T2 over mobile phones in Thailand, the standard’s reach continues to expand in south east Asia as well as Africa. Advance trials are carried out in India, Myanmar, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Libya, Chad, Sudan and more.
In addition to the traditional TV services offered, around 35 countries are also transmitting regular radio services on T2/T2-Lite.
These include Europe (Austria, Belgium, Finland, Greece, Italy, Norway, UK and more), Asia and Oceania (India, Australia, New Zealand), Africa(Kenya, Namibia, South Africa and more) and the Middle-East (Emirates and Israel).
Siano’s SMS4470 offers a single-chip solution that supports DVB-T, DVB-T2, ISDB-T and of course every type of service carried by these technologies (video and radio).
