China's First Automotive DAB Chip Passes CAERI CNAS Certification – A New Breakthrough for Synsiano
Nanjing, China, June 18, 2026 – The automotive DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) receiver chip independently designed by Synsiano (Nanjing) Technology Co., Ltd. (SIANO), with fully independent intellectual property and a fully domestic supply chain, has successfully passed the authoritative certification of the China Automotive Engineering Research Institute (CAERI), and the terminal products carrying the chip obtained a CNAS-accredited test report. This marks the official landing of China's only automotive DAB chip and DAB multimedia middleware protocol stack with fully controllable intellectual property, a fully domestic supply chain, and international commercial capability — breaking the long-standing monopoly of European and American companies in the automotive digital broadcast chip field, and laying a core foundation for Chinese automobile brands going global and for competition in the global wireless broadcast chip market.
Automotive DAB chips are the core RF receiver chips for smart cockpits and in-vehicle multimedia, and are mandatory components for vehicles in Europe and the Middle East — a field long dominated by European and American vendors. Synsiano has overcome key technical barriers in RF architecture design, automotive-grade reliability, high-speed mobile reception, and complex in-vehicle electromagnetic environments, and successfully launched SMS2160, China's first commercially available automotive DAB chip with performance on par with leading international products. Synsiano previously carried out strategic cooperation with Hirschmann Car Communication, a renowned German automotive Tier-1 supplier; SMS2160 chips have been shipped in volumes of millions in multiple European brand vehicles, such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W221), E-Class (W212), BMW 7 Series (F01/F02), and G11/G12.
About the SMS 2160 Turnkey Solution
In this certification, the SMS2160 was integrated into a domestically produced automotive multimedia terminal, and the certification was completed strictly in accordance with ETSI international standards, covering dozens of rigorous tests in eight categories, including RF sensitivity, adjacent channel selectivity, audio performance, automotive environment stability, and emergency warning broadcast (EWBS) adaptation. The results once again confirm that all key specifications of the Synsiano SMS2160 chip meet the requirements, with several performance metrics exceeding industry benchmarks, fully satisfying automotive digital broadcast reception requirements for overseas markets such as Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. Of even greater strategic significance, Synsiano's fully proprietary DAB multimedia player and DAB middleware protocol stack carried by the domestic automotive multimedia terminal fully comply with the complete set of ETSI DAB international standards, providing Chinese automotive brands and automotive Tier-1 suppliers with a one-stop turnkey DAB solution.
